"Innumerable French Arabs are well integrated and accepted by the native French. According to a rough calculation by the Renseignements G�n�raux, there are perhaps 9,000 fundamentalists in France who could be considered dangerous, out of a Muslim population is estimated at six million.

Even so, resentment or disaffection among Muslims not only breeds the radicals, it also provides a refuge for them. Sympathetic neighborhoods thwart police investigations, and jihadists returning home become the new heroes for teenagers.
