"Other countries' quizzes reveal a breezy confidence about what their nations stand for. America tests new citizens by drawing questions from a sample list of 100 that is heavy on patriotism and constitutional principle. Seven questions are about the flag. Canada's test stresses civic duty, defined in boy-scout fashion: “Give an example of how you can show responsibility by participating in your community.” Britain's effort is hesitant by comparison."
