"Islamabad: In an alleged coordinated theft, nearly 32,000 blank passports have been stolen from Pakistan's passport offices and its missions abroad in nine years since 1994.
"Over 31,907 blank passports are missing or stolen, both from within and outside Pakistan between 1994 and 2003," The News daily reported quoting officials. The officials said the figure of stolen passports will increase if the government updates its records. The biggest beneficiaries of the passport scam were the mafias involved in human trafficking who allegedly instigated the theft in a coordinated manner, the paper said."
