"Half of British Muslims say it is acceptable for authorities to monitor what is being preached in mosques, a new poll says. The poll, by the London-based Populous polling firm, found that 48 percent of those surveyed think intelligence services have a right to infiltrate Muslim organizations to gather information about their activities and funding. Fifty-six percent of British Muslims said the British government is not doing enough to fight extremism in its community, a higher proportion than the 49 percent of the general population who said that.
Eighty-one percent said it is not acceptable for police to view Muslims with greater suspicion on the grounds that the July 7 bombers were Muslim, the survey found." [Brief]
