"All extraditions between the UK and the USA are covered by a Treaty signed by the Conservative government in 1972, not by the more recent one signed in 2003, which has not been ratified on either side of the Atlantic. The 2003 Treaty was designed to help law enforcement agencies in both countries deal better with modern international crimes, such as child sex offences and people-trafficking."
