"BRITISH Transport Police is looking into paying some form of special priority payments to its community support officers who double up as interpreters. The force has a national database of police officers and CSOs who are able to converse in different languages. During a visit to Waterloo station, Police Review discovered that the CSOs based there can speak 18 different languages and dialects. Sgt Gordon Tait, in charge of the team of CSOs and Specials for the force's London South region, which covers Waterloo and Charing Cross train stations, said the force is now looking into a payment for officers who also act as translators. Sgt Tait said: 'For officers that are doing this [we are] looking at a priority payment because some officers are getting used all the time.
