"After two years of operation, the Sheridan Correctional Center Therapeutic Community continues to successfully treat inmates with substance abuse problems while providing services to increase post-release employability and reduce the risk of re-arrest and re-imprisonment.
By the end of 2005, 918 inmates were housed at the Illinois Department of Corrections’ (IDOC) Sheridan Correctional Center, offering one of the largest prison-based therapeutic community programs for substance abusing offenders in the U.S. More than 1,100 of 2,500 offenders admitted have successfully completed the incarceration requirements since the program was launched."
