"Parents desperate to scare their children off crime are letting police take the youngsters' finger and palm prints for a juvenile print database. Detective Inspector Malcolm Johnston, who is in charge of the South Island's crime prints and forensics team, confirmed police had been collecting voluntary samples from youths nationwide.
