"Child Youth and Family has completed its investigation into an incident where three young offenders escaped while being transported from Lower Hutt to Palmerston North last month.
Police described the trio as the most prolific offenders in the Hutt Valley. It is understood they asked their escorts if they could have an ice-cream, then jumped out of the vehicle when it stopped in Paraparaumu, and stole a car to get away. CYF regional director Lynda Angus says they have talked to the staff members involved and have subsequently taken appropriate action to ensure there will not be a repeat of the events." [Brief]
