"I welcome the call made by Graeme Pearson, head of the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency, for a national police service. However, instead of the SCDEA existing alongside such a force, I would see the SCDEA integrated, with an assistant commissioner in charge and answerable to a commissioner. This would solve many of the problems in relation to control and accountability of multi-level policing."
