AT least 3,400 people in Yorkshire became victims last year of identity theft – the world's fastest growing crime. A leading expert warned that extra Government resources were needed as the epidemic of fraud grew by a staggering 17 per cent in the first three months of this year alone. But only one per cent of all identity theft crimes are investigated by police, according to Britain's fraud prevention service."
