"Police are manning Tube entrances for 12 hours each day a presence which has raised questions about the sustainability of this level of policing and whether it is impacting on other types of crime. 'We are stretching ourselves,' said a police spokeswoman, a trained officer, who usually works in Barnet police's communications department, but who spent two days last week at a Tube station.
'We've been managing by having people working different shifts and different hours, and taking people away from their day-to-day duties and desk jobs. 'We are stretching ourselves in more ways than one, but we are not ignoring the usual day-to-day policing of the borough of Barnet.'"
