"NEC is harnessing innovation in the form of biometrics technology to contribute to a safer and more secure society. The report presents two prime examples of biometrics technologies - fingerprint authentication and face recognition. NEC fingerprint authentication systems have been applied to the fields of justice and law enforcement in over 20 countries and more than 110 systems have been deployed. In Hong Kong, NEC's face recognition technology has already been adopted for use in immigration control systems. NEC will expand applications of these technologies in a diverse array of domains in order to play its part in making the ubiquitous networking society more secure."
