"Dr. Peter Gill of the UK's Forensic Science Service says analyzing DNA from fingerprints proves valuable in any investigation where there is a lack of body fluid, such as blood. This is especially helpful he says where there is a forced entry/burglary and the perpetrator may have touched a door handle, for example. Or, he adds in the case of a vehicle crime, a steering wheel usually will yield DNA from the driver."
