"Publication of controversial Danish cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad was aimed at informing and not causing insult, The Press newspaper in Christchurch said. But The New Zealand Herald in Auckland defended its own decision not to publish the caricatures, saying they had no other purpose than to offend.
