"A PETERLEE motorist has launched a bid to overturn a speeding fine, claiming mobile-mounted cameras are illegal. Lynn Robson claims he was below the speed limit, even though cameras appeared to show him doing 34mph in a 30mph zone. He is now set for a court battle to prove his innocence, claiming he has evidence that speed cameras set up inside speed vans are being operated illegally. The decision, to be made by magistrates, could have massive implications for millions of drivers who have been issued with fixed penalty tickets after being caught speeding by mobile camera units. Safe Speed, which operates the cameras, says it is confident its cameras are legal, but Mr Robson said: "I won't rest until I prove they are illegal"
