Probe had global dimension : Project Osage. One of several investigations underway in half a dozen countries / National Post, 5 June 2006

Stewart Bell
"The RCMP investigation is called Project OSage, while the FBI calls theirs Operation Northern Exposure and the British probe is known as Operation Mazhar. The Canadian counterterrorism investigation that resulted in charges against 17 suspects on the weekend is just one of several overlapping probes underway in a half-dozen countries. Police have traced connections between the Toronto group accused of plotting a bombing in southern Ontario with similar networks as far afield as Sweden and London. Explosives were also seized in Bosnia, while in London and Washington police searches have turned up videotapes allegedly showing possible bombing targets. All the investigations are focused on networks of computer-savvy youths from Western countries who have allegedly adopted the violent ideology of al-Qaeda." [4 pages]
