"In the third series of articles on mental health, in association with Schizophrenia Ireland, reports that the fraught relationship between mental health services and the prison services is stretched by the large number of prisoners with mental health needs There is strong evidence to suggest that a certain proportion of people with a mental illness are being criminalised, as a result of inadequacies in the current forensic mental health services, and flaws within our health and justice system."
