"Two armed men stole more than 500 passports from a travel agency employee who was taking them to the airport on behalf of tourists planning to travel abroad for the long holiday. On the surface, this incident appears to be just another case of identity theft. But actually, this incident demonstrates that ROC passports are becoming an increasingly valuable commodity in the multi-billion U.S. dollar business of smuggling human beings across international borders.
It is widely known that stolen and fraudulently obtained ROC passports are commonly used by "snake heads" who smuggle mainland Chinese into the United States and other countries."
