"There may be a case for permitting some failed asylum seekers to work legally in Britain, Home Secretary Charles Clarke has said.
In a special debate on home affairs issues for BBC Two's Newsnight, Mr Clarke indicated such a move could be worthwhile in cases where the government was unable to deport would-be refugees."
