"Hampton and Hampton Falls are the latest area police departments to be outfitted with Project 54 or what some refer to as the talking police cruisers. Created by UNH Advanced Technologies Lab, the voice-activated computer technology allows an officer to press a button on the steering wheel and, by voice command, turn on lights, siren, radio and do motor vehicle and criminal background checks. Asked for information, it responds. Given commands, it obeys. Contacted by dispatch, it can pinpoint exactly where Car 54 is, where it's going and at what speed. "
