"A unique facility that has proven successful in reducing the number of female offenders facing prison in Scotland is being extended to England by the Home Office. The 218 – or Time Out – Centre was etsbalished in 2003 in Glasgow with Scottish Executive funding. An evaluation of its performance since then shows that it has achieved major reductions in offending, drug use and self-harm among its members. It has also assisted in finding offenders stable accommodation and improving life skills."
