"The Supreme Court on Monday sought a report on foreign nationals jailed in Pakistan to be submitted to it by April 14.Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry also urged the government to deport all foreign prisoners who have completed their sentences.The chief justice had taken suo motto action on the application of some Bangladeshi prisoners from Central Jail Adiyala. The prisoners had contended that they had completed their sentences but were still languishing in jail.The bench consisting of Chief Justice, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan and Justice Syed Jamshed Ali directed Nasir Saeed Sheikh, the deputy attorney general, to report on government’s policy on foreign prisoners by April 14. The bench also directed Afshan Ghazanfar, the assistant advocate general of Punjab, to submit a report on the provincial government’s policy at the next hearing." [Snippet]
