"NORTH Yorkshire's Chief Constable wrote to Home Secretary Charles Clarke in February offering support for a merger of the region's four forces at the height of controversy about the proposals. North Yorkshire Police Authority chairman Jane Kenyon also signed the letter, obtained under freedom of information rules, which said they wanted an early opportunity to discuss "our ideas on delivery of medium- term zero-cost amalgamations; and other issues"."
