"The pilot project for the Men's Alternative Temporary Housing and Supports program has been giving free room and board to men who abuse their partners. It is forbidden for most abusers to contact their wives or girlfriends, so they're forced to find another place to live. Some become homeless. In the short term, organizers expect the program to reduce family violence by stopping abusers from returning to a violent situation simply because they have no alternatives."
