"The hugely successful Halifax Street Angels project celebrates its first birthday this weekend. The pioneering initiative between Halifax town centre police, Churches Together in Halifax and Halifax YMCA has provided safety and security for thousands of partygoers in town during the last year. The concept of providing a safe haven for revellers came about when Churches Together in Halifax identified an opportunity to help make Halifax a safe and enjoyable night out for everyone. The project is run by volunteers with the aim of assisting vulnerable people and providing an on-street presence with the knock-on effect of reducing anti-social behaviour and violent disorder."
